Thousands of Midjourney Creations Disappeared: Check the Platform Before Disk Recovery
Treat missing Midjourney creations as an account visibility issue by clearing Organize filters and checking the In Trash filter before attempting local disk recovery.
● Images that were never downloaded from Midjourney servers, or those lost after the account deletion reconsideration window expires, cannot be retrieved by local recovery software.
● Only run Recoverit Photo Recovery if a previously downloaded JPG or PNG was deleted from a readable local drive, ensuring you stop writing new data and save recovered files to a separate healthy disk.
Ask AI for a summary
In this Midjourney gallery-loss case on Reddit, a user with more than 19,000 creations suddenly saw only four in history. Most older images had been downloaded, but a recent week of work had not. That situation should be treated as a Midjourney account or visibility problem first, not as deleted files on the computer.
Check Organize Filters and Trash Before Assuming the Images Were Deleted
Midjourney's current Organize documentation says active filters can temporarily hide creations. It also says trashed creations can be found with the In Trash filter and restored with Remove from Trash. Trashing an individual creation does not permanently delete it from Midjourney.
- Step 1
Open Organize and clear search, profile, folder, and other filters that could hide older creations.
- Step 2
Enable In Trash and restore any creation that was moved there.
- Step 3
If large parts of the account remain missing, use Midjourney account support or a data export request rather than scanning your computer.
Server-Side Creations Cannot Be Recovered From Your Local Drive
If a creation was never downloaded, Recoverit cannot retrieve it from Midjourney's servers. Midjourney's Data Deletion and Privacy FAQ provides account data export and deletion controls. If you intentionally requested full account deletion, the request can be reversed only during the stated reconsideration window; after permanent account data deletion, local recovery software cannot recreate server-only images.
Key Boundary:
A missing Midjourney gallery entry and a deleted JPG or PNG on your computer are different recovery problems. Do not run a disk scan unless a local copy is actually missing.
If a Downloaded Midjourney Image Was Deleted Locally
If you previously downloaded the image and that local JPG or PNG was later deleted from a readable computer drive or external disk, stop writing new data to that storage. Recoverit Photo Recovery can scan readable local storage for deleted image files. Save recovered images to a different healthy drive. This cannot recover the recent Midjourney creations that were never downloaded in the first place.
