I shared some videos (.mp4) on OneDrive. The videos work on my computer, but when I put them in a shared folder on OneDrive, download them, and try to play the .mp4 file, I get an error that says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file”. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. Windows Media Player can play other .mp4s just fine. If it's the codec thing, I'm not sure what that is or how to fix it. How can I play shared videos?

To resolve the error, you need to use the compatible video format with the media player. The supported video formats for OneDrive media player are MP4, WMV, AVI, ASF, M4A, M4V, MOV, WAV, AAC, WMA, SMI, 3G2, 3GP, ADTS, SAMI, and MP3. But the best version to play the videos in any media player is MP4.

3- DRM keys:

OneDrive media player is not going to play the videos if they carry any DRM key i.e. Digital rights management key. Even if the video is in an incompatible format with the media player, still if there exists any DRM key, your video is not going to play. Remove the key and then play the video.
